Binghampton, NY with Group WorkCamps

2008 Mission Trip in Binghampton, NY with Group WorkCamps.  10 of us went and joined about 600 other high school age students and their leaders from MD, CO, PA, NY, NJ, and CT.  (We were the only CT people there!)  We were split into teams of 5 or 6 and sent to more than 50 seperate work sites around Binghampton (Tim Lewis was a 30 min ride away! Pete was about 10 blocks from the High School we called home for the week).  Those that went along for this journey were: Steve Lewis, Johnis Macchiaverna, and Pete Traynor (Chaps) and SYF Members:  Bridgette Burch, Emily Hauser, Becca Lastra, Matt Cook, Kevin Eherts, and Tim Lewis.   We spent days painting, fixing, building, mending, etc...  We painted homes, barns, interiors, and each other.  We built wheelchair ramps, reinforced dwellings and structures.  We made many runs to Home Depot and Starbucks, we laughed and worked our tails off.   At the school when the work day was done, we played Ultimate Frisbee, Took Road Trips, went Swimming, and more!   Check out the pics (only a few of about 1600 we have) and make sure that you attend the Stock Dinner (TBD - Sept/Oct - watch for your SYF Post Cards!)   This was a GREAT week of new experiences, new friends, and new fun!!!!  Don't miss out on next years trip in July (dates TBD) to Heifer Projects Rutland MA Workfarm.  Always an adventure!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
