The
First Congregational Church of New Milford, CT.
is pleased to assist you with your wedding plans. Here are a few guidelines that
should be helpful as you look forward to this important event. It is very important that
you set the date and time of the wedding (and rehearsal) well in advance. Dates cannot be
confirmed until the wedding information form is returned to the church office along with a
deposit of one-half the total amount due. Please write us for a booklet and request form.
Premarital Interviews
Arrangements for premarital interview(s) should be scheduled with the pastor performing
the service.
Music
The music for the wedding service should be appropriate to the occasion. Please contact
one of our church organists (listed below) to plan your music immediately after your date
has been confirmed. Please let the church office know who your organist will be. No other
organists may be used without the written consent of the First Congregational Church Music
Committee. Written request to use another organist must be made at least six weeks prior
to the wedding, addressed to the Music Committee, First Congregational Church, 36 Main
Street, New Milford, Connecticut 06776, or email:Jane
McManus.

If you are interested in soloists, our organists can supply you with names of competent
singers/instrumentalists for you to contact. Organists and soloists set their own fees
which are not included in the wedding fee. The organist and soloist must be paid in full
at the wedding rehearsal.
Runners
For safety reasons, runners are not allowed in the aisles of our sanctuary.
Photographs and Video Tapes
Photographs are an important part of the record of your wedding, and we know you will want
to have them. Please ask your photographer to contact the pastor before the wedding to
discuss our guidelines.
Length of Service
Your party is welcome to use the church an hour prior to your service, and for one and
one-half hours after your scheduled wedding time. These hours will ensure adequate time
for your receiving line and to take photographs of the church and your wedding party.
Programs/Order of Service
We can show you a selection of appropriate program covers should you decide to have them
as part of your wedding. Programs should be ordered eight weeks in advance, and full
payment is expected at the time of order. Covers cannot be returned. If you require typing
service, we can provide it at a nominal fee.
Flower Arrangements
Most people have one arrangement on the communion table or two arrangements, one on either
side of the pulpit. We also have wrought-iron candelabra which can be used for candles and
flowers. Most florists are familiar with our procedures for delivering arrangements to the
church. If your florist is not, please have him/her contact the church office. The flowers
may be left for the Sunday worship service after your wedding, or you may take them with
you. Please let us know on the wedding information form which you prefer. If you do leave
the flowers, we will make an appropriate acknowledgment in our worship bulletin for that
Sunday.
Questions/Concerns
If you have any questions during the planning of your wedding, please contact the minister
performing your wedding, or Jane McManus, Church Administrator at 1-860-355-8232 or email: Jane McManus.
Fees and Avilable Times
Wedding fees and forms are available by contacting Jane
McManus . A deposit of half the total fee is expected when the wedding information
form is returned to the office. Dates and times cannot be confirmed until we have received
the completed form and deposit.
