is pleased to assist you with your wedding plans. ![]() Here are a few guidelines that should be helpful as you look forward to this important event. It is important that you set the date and time of the wedding (and rehearsal) well in advance. Dates will be confirmed when the wedding information form accompanying this booklet is returned to the church office along with a deposit of one half the total amount due. Premarital Interviews Arrangements for premarital interview(s) should be scheduled with the pastor performing the service. Music The music for the wedding service should be appropriate to the occasion. Please contact one of our church organists (listed below) to plan your music immediately after your date has been confirmed. Please let the church office know who your organist will be. No other musicians may be used without the written consent of the First Congregational Church Music Committee. Amy Vinisko (860) 567-1972 Linda Wrenn (860) 354-3009 Jan Gregory (203) 262-1352 Sharon Abner (860) 927-3879 If you are interested in soloists, our organists can supply you with names of competent singers/instrumentalists for you to contact. Organists and soloists set their own fees, which are not included in the wedding fee. The organist and soloist must be paid in full at the wedding rehearsal. Photographs and Video Tapes Photographs are an important part of the record of your wedding, and we know you will want to have them. Please ask your photographer or videographer to contact the pastor before the wedding to discuss our guidelines. Runners For safety reasons, runners are not allowed in the aisles of our sanctuary. Length of Service Your party is welcome to use the church an hour prior to your service, and for one and one-half hours after your scheduled wedding time. These hours will insure adequate time for your receiving line and to take photographs of the church and your wedding party. Flower Arrangements Most people have one arrangement on the communion table or two arrangements, one on either side of the pulpit. We also have wrought-iron candelabra, which can be used for candles and flowers. Most florists are familiar with our procedures for delivering flowers to the church. If yours is not, please have him/her contact the church. The flowers may be left for the Sunday worship service after your wedding, or you may take them with you. Please let us know on the wedding information form which you prefer. If you do leave the flowers, we will make an appropriate acknowledgement in our worship bulletin for that Sunday. Receptions Our facilities are available for showers and receptions. If you would like to hold your function at the church, please let us know at the time you reserve the sanctuary. The reception fees are available upon request Questions/Concerns If you have any questions during the planning of your wedding, please feel free to call the church at (860) 354-8232 Fees Wedding fees are listed below. A deposit of half the total fee is expected when the wedding information form is returned to the office. Dates and times cannot be confirmed until we have received the completed form and deposit. These fees cover the use of the facility and an honorarium for the clergy. Music must be arranged directly with the organist or other musician. If you currently support the First Congregational Church through your pledge, a portion of these wedding fees are waived. Please speak to the minister for details.
