Christian Education – Our Mission
The educational mission of the church is to provide opportunities for all to grow in faith and understanding, deepening their individual relationship and belonging as a member of this church and to develop a sense of Christian values in our day to day living and a basic knowledge of our religious heritage.
Our Christian Education Committee
The 10 person Committee is committed to providing a quality program for all children. They provide support for teachers, children, and parents. A committee member is available to answer questions each Sunday in the Parish House.
Child care for infants to toddlers aged 2 years old is provided every Sunday from 9:45 – 11:30 in the Nursery located in the Parish House.
Regular Church School
Ages 3-years old through 5th grade attend the church service until approximately 10:30, leaving during the second verse of the second hymn. They are then escorted by the Christian Education Director and Church School Teachers to the Marsh Parish House (building located behind the church) for their classroom instruction.
Classes are broken in to PreK-2nd grades, 3rd & 4th Grades and 5th & 6th grades. Each class is designed to work with in the child’s writing and reading comprehension level while learning the basic stories from the Old and New Testaments through story time, crafts, games, songs and even acting out the story. Water and a light snack are provided. Church school ends at 11:15am. Your child will be escorted back to Fellowship Hall.
6th grade and older begin their Sunday at 9am at the Bank Street Coffee House. This is a drop-off time chaperoned by our middle school teachers. A generous donation funds the purchases. This is a time of food, fellowship and weekly reflection. At 9:45am the class walks to the church together, escorted by the teachers. They then meet in the chapel room of the church building to hear their daily lesson, which is based from the morning’s scripture lesson using various tools and pages from the internet. At 10:30am they will transition to the sanctuary to be ready to listen to the sermon.
